Research

If there is any convergence at all, Hans' interest might converge in the broad arena of 'meaning making.'  This umbrella title places what otherwise might seem a mixed bag of interests into a coherent stream of research.  Hans takes phenomenological and constructionist approaches such to topics such as organizational culture, narrative theory, storytelling, philosophy of science, and organizational aesthetics.  His work appears in Organization Studies, the Journal of Management Studies, and Journal of Applied Management and Entrepreneurship.  He is co-editor of the forthcoming Sage Handbook of New and Emerging Approaches to Management and Organization.

Consulting

Hans wishes 'the organizationist' was a more sensible title.  If an organist is someone who plays an organ, an organizationist is someone plays an organization.  In this spirit, Hans gives workshops to executives seeking to foster creative thinking throughout the workplace.  He has designed programs for developing unique and inclusive organizational strategies, mission statements, or other initiatives using alternative, participative construction methods (such as playmaking and improvisation).
