KATRIN KOLO

born 1971 in Munich, Germany, living in Switzerland

choreographer, economist (graduate of LMUniversity Munich), dancer (graduate of Ballettakademie Stockholm) and management consultant

I worked both in arts and in management for years, and am starting my own business in Zurich with the strong conviction that what firms really need is more of the artful making and that further exchange between the art and business world concerning experiences, knowledge, working methods, perspectives on the world,… is a fruitful resource for both sides to get fit for the challenges of the future.

I consider myself specialized in

  • co operations between businesses and arts/artists
  • transfer of „artistic“ methods into management practice
  • transfer of management-techniques into the arts
  • implementing change
  • communication, networking and problem-solving
  • choreography and movement-coaching (especially for non-dancers)

Experimenting in a rather pragmatic than scientific way I currently try to explore and start projects especially around the following topics:

  • diversity management : what and how can businesses learn to use/see diversity as a productive resource from the long experience of the artistic world
    (I am planning live discussion/round tables with artists and business managers)
  • recruiting : how can recruiting methods from the art world improve the selection of „stars“ and „loyal, creative and motivated“ employees for businesses?
    (I have developed and tested a new recruiting tool based on a dance audition method and am now looking for companies to pilot it)
  • leadership : how to lead or perform as a team in dynamic and fast changing environments?
    (I designed a workshop based on movement/choreography and the way stage performers work together)
