Member - Barbro Schauman

I am currently working on three different research projects. The Gender equality project is a follow up to my doctoral thesis and is a cooperation project with the EU’s Carrefour Femmes Svenskfinland network. The second project - in Business Education - will result in a thesis on subject didatics in university pedagogy in 2005. The third project - my newest one - deals with issues related to spirituality in organisations within the Similia research group and will be the main research area in a near future.

During the last year I have spent most of my time teaching and developing business education but I like teaching so I don’t see this as a problem. The Bologna process has forced us to scrutinize our present set up and we have done quite a lot of drastic but healthy changes in our curriculum. Still, lack of time is definitely a problem: to be short of time to do everything interesting – for example to get off with the Spirituality project. I describe the project in the following text

The spirituality project is a co-project with the Similia group of researchers, representing several Business schools in Finland. The aim is to start up a new research path in Finnish and Nordic business studies, publish two books on these issues – one in Swedish and the second one in English. We’ll also arrange courses for doctoral students on organisational spirituality. The project will involve doctoral students as well as more experienced researchers in business studies but also researchers from the Theological Faculty of Åbo Academy University. D.Sc. Barbro E. Schauman is acting project leader. The first introductory workshop of the project was held in beginning of December, 2003 at Hanken in Åbo – the first research workshop took place in Åbo in April 2004 and the mext work shop will be held on the 12 th of April 2005.
