CI:Creative Intelligence is a creative consultancy specialising in training and development for people from business, charities and the public sector in Britain and internationally. Tim’s Background

Tim read French at Oxford University (BA Hons, MA) before training as a director at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He worked in the theatre as a director and general manager for ten years before joining Arts & Business (then known as ABSA) in 1984. To quote from A&B’s own publicity: “ A & B is the world’s most successful & widespread creative network. We help business people support the arts & the arts inspire business people, because good business & great art together create a richer society.”

In a wide variety of posts within Arts & Business, Tim always remained involved in training and development for both arts executives and business managers. He created ground-breaking programmes in areas such as corporate governance, leadership and negotiation skills, and the Persuasive Communications Programme which he developed won a National Training Award. He took his Certificate of Training and Development (CiTD) in 1990 and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

In 1998, Tim began to combine his theatrical experience with his training expertise as it became clear that more and more businesses were looking to the arts for help in tackling some of their most pressing development challenges. As Director of A&B’s Creative Development department, Tim was at the forefront of the expansion of arts-based training or creative training and development, establishing A&B’s position as one of the leaders in this field in Britain and internationally. As well as helping artists to recognise their own capabilities in this area, he has delivered creative training programmes for a wide variety of business and other clients such as HBOS, Zurich Insurance, Unilever, Marks & Spencer, Legal & General, Ernst & Young, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Ashridge Management Centre, the Judge Institute, Pfizer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Baker Tilly, Allied Domecq, John Smiths and its parent company, Scottish Courage, the Housing Corporation, the RAC, Ogilvy One and many others. When A&B decided after a strategic review not to continue to offer creative training services to business, Tim left to set up CI:Creative Intelligence.

As well as working in Britain, Tim is in demand abroad. Over the last few years, he has worked in America, Ireland, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Holland and Slovenia.

Tim is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and he serves as a director of Cheek by Jowl, the innovative international theatre company, and Polka Theatre, the UK’s leading theatre for children.
